I’m sprouting!

Ok, I’m not personally sprouting… so no worries, but I am growing sprouts. Janis and I took a sprouting class this past Tuesday at the uber cool Toronto Sprouts. you have to check it out!!! So I today I got all the stuff I need (mesh, jars, tub to drain them in) and now I’m ready. A few weeks ago we bought some seeds at TS.

I couldn’t start right away after purchasing the seeds because:

a) I wasn’t sure how and was waiting for the class

b) didn’t have everything I needed

c) was fasting

So now I’m ready.

Here are also some basic instructions for sprouting in a jar. I need to get a proper container and the soil to grow my sunflower sprouts. Will get that next week.

Step 1:

Soak the seeds/beans (what I have here are (left to right) chick peas, quinoa and a spicy lentil mix)

the stuff needed

the three jars of seeds/beans

(I will update this entry each time I do another step)

step 2:

drain them and then set them on a 45 degree angle, near indirect sunlight for the half the day, in darkness the other half

another draining shot (you can see the quinoa has sprouted)

I just started sprouting, too! I just put some adzuki and mung beans to soak. I got the plastic screw on tops. Can’t wait to see how it works out…

PS: Just found your blog and it’s great!
